Regulation and Prize money

1. Team Pasturo asd, in collaboration with ASD Falchi Lecco, ASD G.S.A. Cometa, Associazione Soci di Pasturo, the Municipality of Pasturo and local associations, is organising the first edition of the Grigne SkyMarathon ‘Trofeo Davide Invernizzi’, an international race affiliated with F.I.Sky - Federazione Italiana Skyrunning (Italian Skyrunning Federation).

2. The race will take place on Saturday 20 September 2025, starting at 7:30 a.m. from Pasturo (altitude 635 m), on a route of approximately 42 km and 3600 m D+. The peaks of Grigna Meridionale (2,184 m) and Grigna Settentrionale (2,410 m) will be reached.

In the event of adverse weather conditions preventing the race from taking place on the original route, the race will be postponed to Sunday 21 September 2025.

3. QUALIFICATION. A maximum of 300 male and female athletes aged 18 or over are eligible to participate in the race, provided they have a medical certificate of fitness for competitive sports (B1) for the following disciplines: Athletics, Skyrunning, Mountaineering, Ski Mountaineering, Nordic Skiing and with a proven track record in skyrunning, which must be sent between 5 February 2025 and 31 March 2025 for selection.

A ranking will be drawn up taking into account the following parameters:

  • ITRA score to assess performance (parameter for indicative purposes only)
  • Experience (qualifying parameter) in Skyrace and SkyMarathon competitions (as per ISF classification): at least 3 Skyrunning competitions competed in and completed between 2017 and 2025, of which at least

Admitted athletes must complete

their registration within 30 days of receiving notification of admission.

If they fail to complete their registration, the first athlete (male/female) on the waiting list will be admitted.

4. The meeting point is set for 6:30 AM. Bib collection is scheduled from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, September 19th and from 5:30 AM to 6:45 AM on Saturday, September 20th.

5. Registrations will be considered valid only upon receipt of the registration fee through the established methods.

6. The race will take place along mountain trails with a challenging route of uphill and downhill sections on trails classified as "EE" that include some exposed and secured sections. Therefore, good physical condition and experience with high-mountain trails are required.

7. The entire route will be marked with specific trail signs, flags, tape, and equipment.

8. Several checkpoints will be set up, and failure to pass any of them will result in disqualification.

9. Ten refreshment points, plus the final refreshment point, will be located along the route.

10. The race will be coordinated with radio links between the finish line and key points along the route.

11. Four time checkpoints will be set up:

  • at the Rosalba Refuge: 2 hours and 30 minutes after the start,
  • at the Buco di Grigna: 4 hours and 15 minutes after the start,
  • at the Bogani Refuge: 6 hours after the start,
  • at the Antonietta al Pialleral Refuge: 7 hours and 45 minutes after the start.

Competitors who fail to pass the checkpoints within the established timeframe are required to stop and remove their bib. From this point on, any athlete who fails to pass the time checkpoint becomes a normal hiker.

12. The maximum time to complete the race is 9 hours and 15 minutes after the start.

13. Once the finish line closes (time limit), assistance along the route will no longer be provided.

14. Timing will be done via chip.

15. Any competitor who abandons the race must notify any checkpoint while simultaneously displaying their assigned bib. If the withdrawal does not require medical attention, the athlete must return independently to the nearest exit point (as per the safety plan) and notify the checkpoint. From this point on, any athlete who fails to pass the time gate becomes a normal hiker. The AREU helicopter will only be deployed if requested by the Alpine Rescue Service.

16. Participants must follow the marked route, under penalty of fines or disqualification. The bib must be visible throughout the competition.

17. A repeat offender will be penalized with a ten-minute penalty or disqualification for athletes who throw glasses, bottles, etc. along the course and fail to comply with safety regulations and instructions from various officials at the most dangerous points. For safety reasons, outside assistance is not permitted, under penalty of disqualification.

18. In the event of inclement weather, the competition will be postponed to the following day, with the start at the same time. If adverse weather conditions persist, the race may be held on an alternative route. In particularly difficult weather conditions, the organizers may decide to suspend the race during its run. In this case, the ranking will be based on the laps completed at the last checkpoint. In this case, the prize money will be halved. The organizers reserve the right to temporarily suspend or permanently interrupt the race for all or some of the competitors if any situation arises that could seriously compromise the safety of the athletes or anyone along the route (e.g., helicopter rescue operations, falling rocks/boulders, etc.).

19. Mandatory Equipment

  • Technical shoes with well-marked soles (trail running/skyrunning)
  • Socks
  • ¾-length leggings or over-the-knee leggings worn with gaiters (wearing them will be mandatory depending on weather conditions)
  • Gloves
  • Windproof jacket*
  • CE EN12492-approved helmet
  • T-shirt or technical jersey under the bib
  • Thermal blanket
  • Cell phone with the organizer's phone number stored

Water reserve of at least 0.5 liters (the race takes place within the Grigna Settentrionale Regional Park, therefore plastic cups will not be distributed at refreshment points). All mandatory equipment must be worn until the finish (except for the helmet, as specified in point 21), under penalty of disqualification. In case of inclement weather, the bib must be worn over the rain jacket and must be clearly visible at all times throughout the race. The organization will communicate any changes to the mandatory clothing based on weather conditions, including the use of additional protective equipment.

The following are recommended:

  • harness and lanyard
  • install the WHERE ARE U app on your mobile phone, available for both IOS and ANDROID

* We consider technical jackets suitable for trail running with integrated hoods made with membranes featuring certified technologies, as indicated on the label, for breathability and waterproofing to be valid. Given the unpredictability of weather conditions in the alpine environment, jackets with a waterproof rating of 20,000 water columns and breathability RET < 6 with heat-sealed seams are mandatory.

If, during the race or at the finish line, an athlete is found without such equipment, the penalties provided for in the FISKY-ISF regulations will be applied.

20. The use of poles/sticks is strictly prohibited on the technical sections of the route marked with appropriate signs. Specifically, the section from Rifugio Rosalba to Rifugio Bietti must be covered with hands free.

Helmets may be handed in at the race office when collecting race numbers; the organisers will transport them to Piani dei Resinelli (car park crossing area). Helmets must be worn at the marked points (under penalty of disqualification) until Rifugio Bietti. Helmets may be left for collection by the organisers at Rifugio Bietti.

21. The use of earphones is prohibited along the entire route during the race.

22. Mountain Rescue volunteers and Alpine Guides will report any failure to comply with the provisions of Point 20 regarding the mandatory use of helmets and the prohibition of the use of poles to the Race Management. The Race Directors may disqualify the athlete if the behaviour continues after the first warning.

23. Any post-race complaints must be submitted to the jury within 30 minutes of the display of the order of arrival, accompanied by €50.00, which will be refunded if the complaint is accepted.

24. The organisation will provide race assistance with the support of the Alpine Rescue Service on the most challenging sections of the course, as well as emergency response from 112 if necessary. For anything not specified in these regulations, please refer to the FISKY-ISF 2025 regulations.

25. In the event of cancellation of the race due to circumstances beyond the control of the organisation (pandemic, hazardous weather conditions, orders from law enforcement agencies), the organisation will refund the registration fee (excluding any bank charges) as follows:

  • 70% if cancellation occurs within the last 30 days before the event
  • 100% if cancellation occurs earlier
  • As an alternative to the above, athletes may decide to keep their registration valid for the 2027 edition and waive the refund.
